MESSAGE FROM #YALI ON ONLINE CLIMATE CHANGE COURSE.

“I encourage each of you to help educate your communities about the challenge of climate change and the solutions that we need to adopt.”

Wanjira Mathai, Chair - Green Belt Movement in "Understanding Climate Change"

Dear FRIEND,

I’m excited to share with you the release of the newest YALI Network Online Course, Understanding Climate Change.

Understanding Climate Change is part of a new category of courses, Focus On, that address some of the pressing issues facing Africa today, offering insight and positive solutions for young African leaders. I hope that this new course will enable and empower YALI Network members to take action on this important topic!

Hosted by world-renowned environmentalist Wanjira Mathai and Melanie Nakagawa, a senior advisor on the environment to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, the 3-part course concentrates on key factors - the science behind climate change, the impact of climate change on Africa, and practical and innovative solutions to combat climate change.

Take the course and earn your YALI Network Online Course certificate today at yali.state.gov/climate.

Then join us for a #YALICHAT with one of the course instructors, Wanjira Mathai, daughter of the late environmentalist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai. Ms. Mathai is Chair of the Kenya-based Green Belt Movement. You’ll be able to ask her your questions about what you have learned in the course and what you can do in your communities.
