Senators shun social media training.

All the 109 Senators yesterday shunned the Facebook and other social media training organised for them by the office of the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
The workshop which was organised for the senators and their aides was aimed at strengthening their use of Facebook and Social media for effective communication on issues relating to public policy and good governance.

However, less than 10 per cent of the aides of the Senators attended the training held at Room 301 of the senate building in Abuja.
Our correspondent observed that majority of the aides are from the Senate President’s office while few of their colleagues from other senators joined after the training had already commenced.
Head of Politics and Governance Outreach of Facebook, Ms. Elizabeth tutored the few aides in attendance on Facebook live broadcast and how to operate Facebook page.

The Senate President, through his Chief of Staff, Senator Isa Galaudu, had explained that the training was in line with the promise of the Senate President in bringing about, a more representative legislature through the use of technology and e- parliamentary tools.
